About the Staff
Janice Currier, Dental Hygienist
Janice Currier has served as a dental hygienist with Dental 1 since October 2004. She graduated from Bristol College in 2002 with an associate’s of science in dental hygiene. After joining Dr. Melfi’s practice, she trained in CEREC, periodontal therapy, and other hygiene concepts. Janice also became certified by the World Clinical Laser Institution, in May 2005, to use soft tissue dental lasers.
On a personal note, she grew up in North Attleboro, Massachusetts and recently purchased her first home near our office. She is happily expecting her first child in April 2007. Janice enjoys social activities, traveling, and working out at the gym.
Barbara J. Christiano, Office Manager
Barbara joined Dental 1 in March 2002. A seasoned professional in the dental field, she brings more than 30 years of experience to the team. Barbara began her career as a dental assistant, and she enjoys managing our office and helping patients with administrative tasks.
A true people person, she enjoys working closely with patients, establishing long-term relationships with individuals and their networks of family and friends. Barbara takes the meaning of multi-tasking to the next level. You will often find her greeting patients and offering them a cup of coffee or tea while managing our thriving practice.
In her free time, she enjoys family and friends. She lives with husband Bob, and they are the proud parents of two grown children, Nichole and Justin. She especially likes traveling and meeting new people.
Deborah McDonald, Financial Coordinator
Deborah joined Dr. Melfi three years ago, and she helps our patients afford dental care by arranging financial plans that work for their budgets. She contacts insurance companies to gather plan information and then goes over the details with patients to make it easy for them to understand. Deborah enjoys the strong bonds and teamwork of the office staff, and we appreciate her contributions to our group.
Christine McCarney, Dental Assistant
Christine works as Dr. Melfi’s dental assistant and has been in the dental field for three years. She attended the NE Dental Assistant program and earned certificates in dental assisting and radiology. While attending school, she received firsthand experience working with veteran doctors. Since then, she has worked in dental specialty areas such as restorative services, orthodontics, implantology, and most recently, CEREC.
Christine loves talking with patients and getting to know them. She strives to make sure they feel comfortable and well cared for during visits. A long-time resident of the area, Christine grew up in Franklin, Massachusetts.
